Death on the Wild Side

| SAM enters stage right and walks to the women unseen. | |
| SAM | She’s gone again then? |
| POLLY | (Surprised) Will you stop creeping up on people like that? |
| SAM | It’s all in the training. See these hands? Deadly, they are. |
| POLLY | You’re a zoo security guard, Sam. Not SAS. |
| JO | Just the person I wanted to speak to. |
| SAM | I’m busy. |
| POLLY | Have the marmosets nicked your walky talky again? |
| SAM | They’re very clever, I’ll have you know. Nimble too. |
| JO | Never mind that. You left me a telephone message. |
| SAM | It’s on your desk. |
| JO | But I can’t read it. What was the message? |
| SAM | It was your husband. Said he was at the hospital. Wanted to see you. Said to ring him there. |
| POLLY | There’s a turn up for the books. |
| JO | Is he all right? Why was he at the hospital? |
| SAM | Didn’t say. Just to ring him. I’m not your servant, you know. |
| JO | Ring him. Yes, I must. Polly, will you be all right with Miss Flapps? |
| POLLY | Of course. Go and ring him. |
