Off The Rails

| ROSE | (Very drunk) I’m going to march right in there and tell that Rails woman exactly what I think of her. |
| VIOLET | Rose, come away. You’ll do someone an injury with that knife. |
| ROSE | I will, I will. I’ll do that Rachel Rails an injury. You see if I don’t. |
| VIOLET | Oh dear. |
| ROSE | She swans in here like Lady Muck, messing up our lovely little family with all her talk of effish... effish... |
| VIOLET | Efficiency. |
| ROSE | And that. She doesn’t care if she hurts the little people. She’s heartless. That’s what she is, downright heartless. |
| VIOLET | (Carefully taking the knife) You know that violence isn’t the answer, Rose. What would Mother have said? |
| ROSE | Oh stuff Mother! |
| VIOLET | Rose! |
| ROSE | You were always her favourite with your pretty looks and your good manners. I was simply the dumpy one who could cook cakes and buns. You were the one that got the husband while all I ended up with was a trolley on a railway platform. |
| VIOLET | Oh Rose. Please don’t upset yourself. It’s a very nice trolley you know. |
| ROSE | Not anymore it isn’t. It is defunct, derelict and unwanted. Just like me. |
| VIOLET | You know that’s not true. If Scott was still in charge- |
| ROSE | Well, he isn’t. Our happy little band are being retired, sent out to pasture like elderly cows. I’m an elderly cow. |
